Aaron, an out-of-work entertainer, has nicked his dad’s ashes and hidden them in a tub of chocolates. Now he’s on his way to Cornwall with no money, a half-baked plan, and the police in hot pursuit. Catch him while you can!
Never guide a book by its cover. To look at “Aaron” and you’d think he had it all – dashing good looks, personality, fit, young. But actually, he’s not got it all sorted. He’s hurting. He’s lost his dad and not coping at all well with this. On the outside he looks like a masculine man who can shoulder life.
With flashbacks and bite-size reflections of events, all clearly telegraphed by lighting changes, we see moments of his struggles and like a jigsaw puzzle put the pieces together. To say much more would be spoilers so probably best to say that this 60 minute piece will intrigue and entertain but also have moments that are uncomfortable.
Well written, well paced, well directed and well performed you can’t but help wonder how much is based on a personal story. It’s only on for a short run at the wonderful Drayton Arms Theatre so have a night out, meals and drinks and pop upstairs to catch Oscar take you on his journey to Cornwall.
