Following wildly successful runs in New York City, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Chicago and Toronto, renowned magician and the New York Times crossword constructor David Kwong brings his immersive magic and puzzles experience The Enigmatist to the UK for the first time, to coincide with American Thanksgiving. Wilton’s resident caterers The Gatherers will be offering Thanksgiving-themed food to pre-show diners throughout the week.
Part magic show, part puzzle adventure, Kwong’s intriguing blend of sleight-of-hand, wordplay, and brain-twisting enigmas pulls you straight into the mystery.
David Kwong’s casual presentation is immaculate. His patter immediately puts you all at ease and you know you’re in safe hands. His skill is second to none and nobody in the audience is outside of his awareness. With a super-brain and clearly a lifelong love of puzzles that enthusiasm is infectious and carries the evening and everyone along.
Opening night gotcha’s include a mic not turned on at the start of the show and a projector that gave us an upside-down scrabble board but nothing fazed David and therefore nothing was lost.
Card tricks are normally performed as close up magic or with super-sized cards. Somehow these aren’t needed nor used and it’s still clear to the rear of the audience what is happening on the stage. With a lot of audience involvement, if you wish, no pressure, the 2 hours (including an interval) race by. Many of the puzzles and illusions feed back to earlier illusions and the incredulity builds and builds to an awesome finale!
You will be amazed, wowed, impressed and go home asking “how did he do that”?
