An Evening Without Kate Bush

★★★★★
“A wonderfully wuthering, joyfully bonkers celebration of Kate Bush.”

This award-winning cult cabaret pays glorious tribute to the music, fans and mythology of one of the most influential voices in British music.

Review by Richard Lambert

As a lifelong devotee of Kate Bush (and let’s be honest, who isn’t running up that hill with her?), I’ve always longed for the days when pop stars were true originals—when artistry meant more than just hitting the right notes, and individuality wasn’t manufactured in a boardroom. Kate didn’t just perform—she created worlds. Roller skates, wild hair, and wonderfully theatrical moments that quite literally cannoned into our imaginations. From Wuthering Heights to Hounds of Love, every song was a different “scene-stealer,” and we were happily caught in the drama.

Enter Sarah-Louise Young—who doesn’t just pay tribute, she Bush-whacks expectations in the best possible way.

With a delightfully tongue-in-cheek style and costumes that wink rather than shout (no need to out-Liberace Liberace), Sarah brings both the wuther and the wonder. She’s gloriously informal without ever missing a beat—proof that you can let your hair down and hit every high note. Her voice? Let’s just say it’s not running up that hill—it’s soaring over it.

What she creates is more than a performance; it’s a shared experience. A cabaret that wraps you up in nostalgia while giving you permission to laugh, sing, and revel in the beautifully bonkers spirit of Kate Bush. It’s inclusive, it’s joyful, and it’s delivered with a kind of effortless brilliance that makes you feel like you’re part of something special.

In short: this show doesn’t just run up that hill —it delivers something divine. And like all the best love affairs, you’ll want to come back again and again.
