The Unofficial Parody Of Grease
This year, we’ve taken the iconic, summer-lovin’ world of Grease and crashed it headfirst into Ancient Greece, reimagining the storyline and songs you all know and love. You know Danny and Sandy – now meet Zeus and Hera!

Review by Richard Lambert

A theatre experience starts as soon as you arrive at the entrance. The greeting you’re given, the welcome, the look of the space. Vaults Creative have got this bang on. The Box Office very friendly, the bar staff happy, and a tunnel draped in chiffon fabric red ribbons. With a traverse setup, a raised runway joining two ends between Olympus and the bar there isn’t a bad seat in the house and it has a great feel to it.

Standout performances from all the cast, especially the principals, and unbelievable vocals from Lucy Penrose playing Aphrodite. The staging is spot-on and it’s a high energy musical parody that doesn’t let up for one second in laughs and innuendo.

The Design works so well here. With chariot races between Zeus and Hades and fog machines in the red gates of hell, this is an adventure playground for adults. One of the highlights has got to be when the very large bar menu lowers down at one end like a drawbridge and connects as a ramp onto a portable ramp for Zeus in his motorised chariot. This takes the production values higher than many West End shows and could rival the original production of Starlight Express.

Every tune from Grease is parodied with lyrics of pure filth. The writing is exceptionally funny and outrageous with the cast revelling in a wink, a smirk and a smile as they directly address the audience.

Not for the prudish but this is probably the best night out in entertainment in London right now – naughty but nice, and you could bring your aunt.
